Welsh opens magical doors

When you learn Welsh, you don’t just get a language – you get access to a whole hidden culture. You get to belong to an old and beautiful country in a new and exciting way.

And it’s not as hard as some people say. You just have to learn words, and learn the edges between words – how they fit into each other. That’s exactly what we do for you, with our little word game.

You hear something in English, you say it in Welsh, you hear it in Welsh.

We take care of everything else – all the timings for revision, all the variations to get you used to the edges. All you have to do is keep showing up, listen to something in English and (as it says on the tin!) say something in Welsh.

Here are a couple of taster clips to give you a sense of how it works. They’re just static files – the app is much better, and always remembers how far you’ve got and what you need to do next. But these clips will give you an idea of the approach without you having to download anything or set up any accounts.

Lesson 1

You’ll start off by learning how to talk about wanting to do something, which is always a very helpful way to begin.

Lesson 2

Now you’ll begin to get some new verbs, and some new ways of putting everything together – by the end of this, you’ll already be saying your first full sentences in Welsh.

Fun Welsh fact!

Welsh is one of the few languages in the world that changes the beginning of a word depending on the word that came before it.

Well, actually, all languages do this – but Welsh is one of the very few where it gets written down.

You don’t have to worry about it – with our approach, you’ll just get used to hearing how they work, and you’ll make the changes naturally.
