There’s a real element with SSiW of “trust the process”. Don’t expect to remember everything straight away – we all need to repeat things a number of times before they stick (and the app has been designed to do that for you, so you don’t need to think about it). And counter-intuitively, if you try really hard to learn something, your brain puts up a bit of resistance.
Give yourself time each day to do a bit of SSiW (I used to do it audio only while ironing or washing up or something), and get as much Welsh going on in your life as you can (on the radio or TV, for example, even if you feel that you can’t understand a word). Start playing around in your head with what you’ve learned so far (dw i eisiau … dysgu, but what else? What other things can you think of saying that you want to do – what would you need in your life?) But don’t put too much pressure on yourself – it’s wonderful that you have so much motivation, but don’t set unrealistic demands for yourself.
Do that for a few weeks, and then go back to that first challenge again – I think you’ll be really pleasantly surprised at how much has sunk in! You can do this!!
