Please remember:

The more you zoom in, the more precisely you see where your locator is.

If you want to look for a specific person, the larger maps ("View larger map" link at the bottom left corner of each map) will include an alphabetical list of the names on each of the maps.

If it's not exactly where you'd like it to be, please ask Sionned (politely - she's a volunteer!) to move it, and she will...:)

Because this map uses the entire list all on one page, it also automatically doesn't include some markers when there are too many visible at the same time - if you click and hold and move it about, you'll see some coming into view and some vanishing.

The more you zoom in to a particular area, the more of the placemarkers in that area you will see...:)

Great! When you click on the "view larger map" link at the bottom, you'll get a larger version where you can see more at once, but you still have to zoom in to see everyone in a crowded area.

Thanks, Aran!

Aran
It's a great map. Looking at SSIW members in England there are definite number of 'clusters' of members, ie Liverpool-Birkenhead, Birmingham, London. All these Cities have active Welsh societies, how about approaching them and having at least a LINK on their websites if not a Welsh Language Taster day / Oneday school to connect with local Cymry di-gymraeg and others who may wish to learn? There is a marked tendancy of Cymro Gorau Cymro Dramor among the expat Welsh living on this side of Clawdd Offa.

That's definitely the kind of thing that I'd really like to do when I get the time...:D It is very interesting seeing the clustering effects already...

Um, Aran? This map seems to not be showing anything, now. I still have the original and it's still growing, but where are the placemarkers here?

Hmm... I'm seeing placemarkers on it.

But I notice that when I go to My Maps on Google and try to go into your original SSIW map, I can't access it.

What are the most recent one or two markers you've put on it?

I just now put Ragley on, a purple marker near Redditch (south of Birmingham). Before that, I put redhed in Abercarn, and moved sais01 and wolfrealt to where they should be.

[Edit: You're right, it should have been "redhed" - I've fixed it here.]

I can see both Ragley and redhed (sp?!) on this map. Hmmm. But when I go to My Maps, I see the link for your original map (which is not the same as this xml extract; although the xml extract updates from the original map, it can't be edited) but when I click on it, it just vanishes.

Google maps - frustrating the parts other maps can't reach...

Anyone else unable to see any placemarkers on the map above here, even when you zoom in?

Indeed. I wonder if it makes any difference whether I have it open or not?

It is weird that I could see them when you first put it up, but can't any longer.
